AONGHUS MCEVOY | GILL & JIM | QUBE
HANDMADE MUSIC is a monthly experimental night in Belfast.

Short sets, time to chat, space to move

Aongus McEvoy (25-30min set approx)

Aonghus McEvoy’s work moves between oblique restraint and histrionic rock excess often taking the form of collaborations with improvisers, indeterminate scores for small ensembles and skewed takes on folk idioms. He has performed alongside musicians such as  Annette Krebs, Jon Collin, Damo Suzuki, Rhodri Davies, David Maranha, Ailbhe Nic Oireachtaigh, David Lacey and worked with composers such as Jack Callahan, Eva-Maria Houben & Conal Rya.

QUB Ensemble (10-15min set approx)

QUBe members will form the house band for the Handmade Music series. QUBe is a music collective based in Belfast involving students, staff, and musicians from inside and outside Queen’s University Belfast. QUBe brings together performers from diverse artistic backgrounds and musical interests.

Gill and Jim (25-30min set approx)

Two jazzers with songwriting tendencies improvise from their home instruments, tenor sax and drums. This collaboration will explore texture, rhythm and song and be a safe place to listen, move and sing if the night takes it with you.
