Music Residency (Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris, 2022/23)

We are delighted to sponsor another Music Residency at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris, 2022/23

This 1-month residency is specifically for a musician or composer working in any genre who is based in Northern Ireland. (Please tick the relevant box in the Application form if you are a citizen of or living in Northern Ireland).

It’s great to offer this wonderful opportunity to artists who have been unable to travel or perform lately, and offer some much-needed space to create new work, explore ideas and network in an amazing city.

Applications close 12th January 2022, with successful candidates notified at the beginning of March. The application process is pretty straightforward, so get applying and feel free to share with anybody you think could benefit from it.

The mission of Moving on Music is to identify, develop, and support music with an edge, stimulating the sector throughout the next five years.

Moving on Music was established as a not-for-profit music promotions and education company in 1995 and currently employs three full-time members of staff. The board of seven directors oversee the strategic and financial running of the company and operational decisions are made at regular staff meetings. The company is a recognised charity.

We are now responsible for the promotion of approx. 80 dates per year including tours, clustered events, festivals and education projects; professional musicians and educators service these.

The company is in receipt of public funds through grants from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Belfast City Council, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, PRSF, for example.

The role of the post will be to support and assist the Moving on Music Team with the administration and logistics of tours, events and musician development schemes and the promotion of these events. To assist with the delivery, organisation and running of the company’s live events. To assist with the processing of funding applications and budgets and any other duties required to meet the objectives of the organisation.

The Thin Air – video interview with Brian Carson

Currently based in the MAC, Belfast, Moving on Music have spent the last twenty years boldly showcasing some of the most exciting and curious jazz, blues, traditional, world and electronic artists. Celebrating that twentieth anniversary this year, the promoters – founded by Brian Carson – will also present the latest installment of their annual Belfast-based jazz festival, Brilliant Corners from March 25-28.
