RICHARD DAWSON & BAND

Rising up from the bed of the River Tyne, is a voice that crumbles and soars. Steeped in age-old balladry and finely chiselled observations of the mundane, hilarious, and tragic. Richard Dawson is a skewed troubadour all at once charming and abrasive.

Those fortunate enough to have seen Richard Dawson before will know just how special an artist he is. In a few short years, he has made the transition from “local legend” to one of the most revered musicians around. Lauded by Late Junction, The Wire, 6 Music, The Quietus, Stewart Lee, Pitchfork, and many more, he is held in very high esteem.

His most recent album ‘Peasant’ sees Richard once again move to brand new ground, traveling some 1500 years into the past to make sense of the present. It is a record that is accessible and revelatory, comfortable and bone shaking; an absolutely stunning piece of work that sees Richard and band transport listeners to another world.

It’s too easy to describe an artist as peerless but here it really is the case. He is genuinely one of the most affecting performers you will ever see, and we are delighted to welcome him back to Belfast this November.

“Dawson delivers poetry with brutal intensity – and you hang on his every word.” The Guardian.

“the most beautiful music Dawson has ever recorded” (8.0) Pitchfork

“Its significance, its profundity, its sheer exhilarating force will stay with you for far longer than just about anything else you’re likely to hear this year.” (9.5) The Line of Best Fit

“a cobbled-together beast of pop, free improv and acoustic and ethnic music” The Quietus
