Peter Brötzmann’s ‘Full Blast’

THU 4 OCT | BLACK BOX | DOORS 7.45PM, £14 – £10 BOOK HERE

Peter Brötzmann (reeds) Marino Pliakas (e-bass) Michael Wertmüller (drums)

Peter Brötzmann is the living legend of European new jazz. He has exemplified European improvised music for over 40 years and participated in countless international collaborations. Of all his current projects, Full Blast – with the precise and dynamic Swiss rhythm section of Marino Pliakas and Michael Wertmüller – is the most consistent and the longest running.

Their fifth album once again treads new territory, involving electronics and new mixing techniques. The result is an album that is nonconformist and urgent; a distinct work in the world of contemporary jazz.

Live, Full Blast is a cleansing tornado. This concert is pretty much mandatory if you’re a fan of free jazz, noise-rock or extreme music.

“one of the most devastating forces to ever touch a saxophone” Pitchfork

“There was nothing to do but surrender to this amazing performance” All About Jazz

“nonconformity and richness in variety stands on his own in contemporary jazz.” Trost
