Welcome to Hard Rain SolistEnsemble’s 2017/18 Season!
What better way to get the HRSE season off to a start then, than to premiere a brand new commission by Ian Wilson, our featured composer during Moving on Music’s Tempered Festival.
Achinet was commissioned by the Crescent with funding from ACNI and features a clarinet double whammy for ensemble and the paired talents of our own Sarah Watts on the bass instrument and our invited guest the Spanish virtuoso Cristo Barrios on the regular Bb clarinet.
This concert, curated by Ian himself, mixes big hitters of the 2nd Viennese School, Alban Berg and Anton Webern with the delicate, fleeting music of Salvatore Sciarrino’s Lo spazio inverso, a work the Hard Rain audience will already be familiar with.
In addition, the wonderful experimental sound-worlds of fellow Italian Clara Iannotta and Japanese composer Misato Mochizuki sit beautifully alongside the serenity of our own Deirdre McKay’s Secundum.
