Moving On Music (MOM) is delighted to announce the 4 artists selected to take part in our first ever Emerging Artist Programme, kindly supported by The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.

Moving On Music (MOM) is delighted to announce the 4 artists selected to take part in our first ever Emerging Artist Programme, kindly supported by The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.

 

the successful applicants come from a range of genres and are at varying stages of their careers. MOM will work with each artist over the next 12 months, through a range of mentoring sessions, marketing advice and material development, performance, and networking opportunities. We look forward to the coming year, and are excited about what lies ahead for each of this year’s Emerging Artists.

Joseph Leighton (jazz/guitar)
Joseph is a young jazz guitarist from Co. Derry. He gigs locally in Derry at various venues including Bennigans Jazz Club. Joseph was involved working with David Lyttle as part of his artist residency with the Brilliant Corners Festival in 2016 and has also been selected to attend a Jazz & Creative Music workshop in August at the Banff Centre, Canada this year.

Amy McAllister (harp/traditional)
Amy is a traditional harpist and singer/songwriter from Co. Antrim. She has performed with various large entertainment ensembles such as Celtic Angels, Celtic Crossroads and Rhythm of the Dance. She is currently working towards finalising her debut solo album and is keen to establish herself as a solo artist.

Isobel Anderson (vocalist/songwriter/experimental)
Isobel is a composer and performer, originally from Sussex, now based in Belfast. Isobel’s song writing to date has largely focused around acoustic guitar, under the indie folk genre. She has released 3 albums to date and has completed a PhD at SARC, QUB, and is now looking to develop her music in a slightly different direction, with a more experimental approach to her song writing and performance.

Robocobra Quartet (jazz/punk/hip-hop)
Robocobra Quartet are an exciting ensemble from Belfast. Taking influence from jazz, hard-core and hip-hop, their music incorporates powerful spoken word alongside improvising drums, bass and duel saxophones. They have performed at Brilliant Corners Festival and Electric Picnic, and are working towards the release of a new record.
